The Kainai Board of Education (KBE) is located on a First Nation Reserve located in the southern part of Alberta. The KBE carries out the operations and functions for the delegation of education services from kindergarten to Grade 12 within the Kainai community. Having adopted Kainaysinni, the Declaration of the Elders of Kainai, the KBE is committed to excellence in education for the members of Kainai.

Mental Health Coordinator (1) Position – Position will end June 2025 

  • The Mental Health Coordinator will maintain collaborative relationships with school leaders, staff, and community partners in developing a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach for Mental Health for students of KBE. This position would be responsible for developing strategic plans, goals and measurable outcomes for mental health promotion programs and services. This position will also develop and launch programs and initiatives for Mental Health Education as well as target specific interventions and create programming initiatives to support the specific challenges of diverse student issues and to promote awareness of mental health issues within the schools to reduce the stigma regarding Mental health concerns and illness. The Mental Health Coordinator will assist in providing mental health resources to students/staff and caregivers and will work in a supervisory capacity providing guidance and direction to the Mental Health Therapists in the schools.
  • Qualifications: Preference – Master of Education or Master of Social Work with experience in clinical supervision and background in therapy. Experience in Management is an asset as well as excellent facilitation, presentation, and communication skills. Knowledge of Kainayssini and Blackfoot Ways is an asset.
